Hari Raya 2011

We celebrated Hari raya Aidil Fitri on the 30th of August 2011. All the family members gathered in Bandar Tenggara except for A Hadi's family (who is in Germany) and Nurul's family (who is in Perak). This Hari raya saw new additions to the family being Norhafiza (A Samad's wife) and Nur Widad Safiyyah ( A Jalalul Ikram's second daughter). After the Hari raya prayers, the family went to Taman Ungku Tun Aminah. After TUTA, we went to Kota Tinggi.

On the second Hari raya, the family took the road to Mersing. Upon reaching Mersing, we went to the cemetery. Then we visited Do's house and then Makcik Non's new house.

After that, we checked in at the Sri Mersing chalets in Air Papan. We had a wonderful time in Air Papan.

A Samad's Marriage

On the 24th of April 2011, A Hadi & family came back for a holiday in Malaysia. Nor & I were at Chu's house in Banting earlier where we met Yong, Kak Ros and Kak Teh; and we had hoped to spend a while in Banting before fetching A Hadi, Cyntha & Yani. A Samad together with Hawa & Yam came a while to Chu's house. After lunch at Chu's place and while on the way to KLIA, I received a call from A Hadi that he, Cyntha & Yani had already arrived. We met A Hadi, Cyntha & Yani at KLIA and after that we went to the mamak shop near the Concorde Inn to eat mee goreng and have tea. Then we started back to Bandar Tenggara.

On the 29th of April 2011, the family started to KL to prepare for A Samad's nikah to Nurhafiza Bt Shaari at Gombak. We put up at a homestay called Sri Hanis, near the Simpang Tiga Mosque in Gombak. On the 30th, after the maghrib prayers, we set out to Norhafiza's house at Taman Bukit Sentosa, Gombak. A Samad was married to Norhafiza bt Shaari after the Isyak prayers.

The 1st of May 2011 was the kenduri.

The kenduri at Bandar Tenggara was set a week later after Gombak, that is the 7th of May, 2011 at the dewan KEJORA, Bandar Tenggara. The occasion went very well and it was a day to remember for most of us. It was also the day that A Hadi, Cyntha & Yani had to go back to Germany. They were sent to the KLIA by Diqi & Nurul who later on went back to Batu Gajah.

I am thankful to Allah swt for making all the arrangement go according to plan without any hitches.

ASamad's Engagement

25th of December 2010 was a day to remember, not because it was Christmas but because it was a big day for the family. It was the day when A Samad was engaged to Norhafiza binti Shaari. The occasion took place at 11.00 am at the residence of Datuk Shaari Bin Ismail and Datin Fatimah in Taman Harmonis, Gombak.
5 days earlier, A Hadi arrived at KLIA from Munich on the 20th to spend about ten days in Malaysia before going back to Germany on the 31st of December 2010 at 2.40am.
The family gathered at a homestay, an apartment at Taman Sri Ayu in Setiawangsa for 2 days. Nurul, Diqi and Lutfi arrived on the 24th of December together with Nabihah who had gone to Perak earlier. AJIkram, Ummu and Syarha arrived at about 12. 30 pm and went straight to the Sri Ayu apartment.
The situation before the engagement was hectic with so many things to prepare but it was a happy and joyous occasion. An and wife, Yana; Jorah, Norsaiah arrived at about 2.00 am on the 25th.
On the auspicious day, the 25th of December, we started off from Sri Ayu apartment at 10.00 a.m and gathered at the side of the road near to the surau and SK Setiawangsa to wait for the group from the Mahsuri apartment, Awa, Aja, Amat, Asiah and their family. The engagement entourage for A Samad went in seven cars to Taman Harmonis.

The Gathering

Come February 2010, all members of the family and the new add-ins met during the Chinese New Year holidays. Ajikram, Ummu and Syarha; Ahadi, Cyntha and Satriani; and Nurul, Tasdiqi and Ahmad Lotfil Hadi and the rest of the family; including Hawa and Hajar were in Bandar Tenggara. It was the first time everybody was to meet Satriani.
After the Chinese New Year holidays, everbody went back except Ahadi, Cyntha and Satriani who were on holidays for 3 weeks from the 4th of February before going back to Germany on the 26th of February.
On the 19th of February, I received a bad news from Nurul that her son, Ahmad Lotfil Hadi, broke his thighbone in a fall with his Perak grandma and sent to the Batu Gajah hospital before being admitted to the Ipoh General Hospital for observation and treatment.
On the 25th of February, the family went to KL to sent Ahadi off the next day. We put up the night in Cheras and at 10pm set off to KLIA. At 2am on the 26th February, Ahadi, Cyntha and Satriani flew back to Germany. The next day, after breakfast in Setiawangsa, we went off to Batu Gajah, Perak. We reached Batu Gajah at about 1pm and went straight to Nurul's house as we were informed that Ahmad Lotfi was discharged from the Ipoh GH that day.
It seemed that Ahmad Lotfi is ok in the cast. After spending for about 3 hours, we prepared to head back to KL but the car would not start. After calling the mechanic and spending RM280.00 for a fuel pump, we went to our in-laws house. By the time we reached there, it was raining heavily. Excusing ourselves after half an hour, we set back to KL in the rain. By that time it was already 6.30 pm. We reached KL safely at about 9pm and soon I fell soundly asleep.
On the 27th, we went back to Bandar Tenggara at 11am and reached BT at about 3.30pm. Soon, Ajikram, Ummu and Syarha came. Ajikram came after attending Cikgu Maisara's daughter's wedding and also to get the food prepared by Cikgu Budin for his in-laws's tahlil.
The next day we sent ASamad to get on the bus to KL at Skudai and later had a lunch date with Ajikram, Ummu and Syarha at Plaza Larkin. Then , we went straight home to BT after a hectic and tiring and exciting weekend. The house is now very, very quiet after the Gathering. I missed them all!

That Time

Today is the fifth day of the fasting month and it has been a long time since I have written anything in my blog. A lot of things has happened since then. First, it was Nur Fathiyah Syarha who came into our lives and made me a first-time grandfather, a proud and happy grandfather. She was born the day after I have sent my daughter, Nabihah to Wisma Belia, KL for the YPM Japanese program. She did well in her SPM where she scored 10As.
Ummu, my daughter-in-law was admitted to the Sultan Ismail hospital in Pandan, JB the night before. The family came back as fast as we could and went straight to the hospital arriving at about 6.00 pm but Ummu had gone into labour. After waiting until 7.30pm, still nothing so we decided to go home to BT. Boy! are we all tired from a long day. At 11.00 pm, Ikram called to say that Ummu has given birth to a baby girl, my beautiful granddaughter! The whole family was elated and couldn't bring ourselves to sleep again. It was the first time since a very long time I saw the excitement in the whole family. The phone was ringing constantly to relay the good news.

It was about two months later, our granddaughter, Syarha, was admitted to the ICU of the Sultan Ismail hospital because of a viral infection (?). It was at 11 pm when Ikram called to say he was worried because Syarha's stools was black in colour. I suggested that Syarha be taken to the hospital for a checkup. Ikram went to a clinic in Pasir Gudang but Syarha was diagnosed for dengue. She was referred to the Sultan Ismail hospital when her blood count was very low. She was immediately admitted to the ICU. She was in a critical condition for almost about a week. We travelled everyday to the hospital. Alhamdullillah, she got through and got better.

Now she is almost 5 1/2 months healthy and very lively and I missed her everyday.

Next, came Satriani, our second granddaughter, who was born about a month ago in Freiburg, Germany. My regrets was, I cannot go to see her in person as Freiburg is too far away but I was given updates by AHadi, my son, through calls, smses and pictures and video clips. She contracted jaundice during birth but now she is OK. She is a lively and quite loud little bundle of joy. I hoped and wished I could hold her in my arms.

Now, I am waiting for my third grandchild due to be born in early October to Diqi and Nurul in Batu Gajah, Perak.

2009 is a productive year for our family with the addition of new members.

Nurul's Marriage

On the 29th of November, I married off my daughter, Nurul Syuhadah Bt A. Hamid to Ahmad Tasdiqi bin Ahamad Thamizi, a teacher from Perak in a simple akad nikah ceremony at our home in Bandar Tenggara, attended by members of both families. It is the third marriage in our family this year. The akad nikah ceremony started a bit late because the 'Pak Imam' was late due to a breakdown in communication whereby he thought the ceremony would start at 10.00 a.m when it was supposed to be at 9.00 a.m. I sent off my eldest son, Ikram, to fetch the Imam who was at his house, in his towels. We had a big laugh at that.
When the Pak Imam finally came, we started off the ceremony with the Pak Imam scrutinizing the administrative documentations of the akad nikah. The Pak Imam asked my permission and bade me to come along to see the bride to ask/seek her consent to the marriage. Then the bride was asked to sign a number of documents pertaining to the akad nikah. Then, the Pak Imam documented the saksi2 or witnesses to the akad nikah, 6 of them: 2 for the bridegroom, 2 for the bride and 2 for the akad or the Pak Imam's side.
After that, the akad nikah rituals began with the Pak Imam reciting some prayers and verses from the holy Quran. When the recital ends, I took up my position to marry off my daughter. Everyone in the room went quiet and waited. I pronounced the akad proposal, "Bahawa Aku nikah dan aku kahwinkan dikau dengan anakku, Nurul Suhadah binti Abdul Hamid dengan maskahwinnya RM 70.00 tunai". The bridegroom was late in responding to my proposal and the Pak Imam asked for the ritual to be done again. The second time, the bridegroom, in one breath, responded, "Aku terima nikah Nurul Syuhadah binti Abdul Hamid dengan maskahwinnya RM 70.00 tunai." The Pak Imam then looked around at the saksi/witnesses and every witness says, "Sah".
Then, it was official that I had given away my daughter in marriage to Ahmad Tasdiqi bin Ahamad Thamizi. The Pak Imam then recite the 'doa' and after that the bridegroom recites the 'lafaz takliq'. The bridegroom then presented to his bride the maskahwin. Later, my wife was asked to recite advices and bid forgiveness to her daughter. It was a solemn situation where mother and daughter were crying and the effect was all around.
When the ceremony was over, we had a small feast and by that time it was already 11.15 a.m. The kenduri at the dewan was supposed to begin at 11.00 a.m and guests had already arrived but was still at home entertaining my in-laws. Some friends were calling from the dewan. When my in-laws took their leave, I went off straight to the dewan in my brother's car. Guests were already there and some were milling around at the entrance of the dewan. The festivities went on well with friends and relatives enjoying the kenduri. At about 2.00 p.m, the bride and bridegroom arrived at the dewan and they were escorted with the family entourage and the company of kompang. The bride and bridegroom were seated at the entrance of the dewan for a special presentation by the kompang group. There were also silat performed. After that, the bride and bridegroom proceeded into the dewan with the guests.
The feast ended at 5.00 p.m. and ended well. I am thankful to Allah swt for what had transpired and thankful for blessing our family with a new member. Alhamdulillah.
